Companies actively engaged in Lean offer a treasure trove of information when it comes to their respective Lean journeys. Benchmarking these companies brings you new ideas, an affirmation of your current practices, and an opportunity to be spurred on and take next steps in your own organization. To that end, we are continuing to bring you monthly tours so you can take advantage of this knowledge base. Each plant tour offers a unique opportunity to dialog with peers from across industries and functions about best practices, challenges and solutions to moving your organization forward.
MERCURY PLASTICS
LEAN MANUFACTURING PLANT TOUR
(LIMIT 2 SPOTS PER COMPANY)
Located in South Baltimore, Mercury Plastics is a thermoform plastic manufacturer serving the aerospace, defense, consumer products and energy industries. Products include candle packaging, blisters, clamshells, component parts, police car doors, museum vitrines, acrylic displays and much more. Mercury Plastics began Maryland operations in November 2020 following the acquisition of Maryland Thermoform, a manufacturer that had been struggling for several years.
Beginning in 2018, the transition to a culture of Lean was constrained by the unavailability of cash resources. Immediately following the acquisition, the focus shifted from survival to prosperity. Visitors will see first-hand what a small group of dedicated people can accomplish and why Mercury Plastics is proud of the first-responder attitude team members demonstrate daily. See what the implementation of Lean business practices can do for your team. Join us as they share their challenges, successes and plans for the future.
