Lean Facilitator Certification Program

The Maryland World Class Consortia's Lean Facilitator Certification Program (LFCP) develops the skills and knowledge needed by internal change agents to plan, execute, and sustain operational excellence improvements using lean tools and principles.

The LFCP design is comprised of four learning modules deployed over four months. Participants meet once per month for four days and complete classroom and hands-on exercises in the following topics:

Module 1: Getting Started with Lean Change (4 days)

  • Program Objectives and Overview
  • Lean Culture, Leadership, and Lean Transformation
  • An Overview of Lean Thinking
  • Building the Case for Change
  • Leading Change

Module 2: Improving Performance with Lean - Part 1 (4 days)

  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Mapping Administrative Processes
  • Systematic Process Improvement and A3 Thinking
  • Lean Daily Improvement and Kaizen Events
  • Standard Work and Training Within Industry (TWI)

Module 3: Improving Performance with Lean - Part 2 (3 days)

  • 5S and Visual Management
  • Pull Systems and Inventory Management
  • Kaizen Event Preparation and Facilitation
  • Total Productive Maintenance and Setup Reduction
  • Error-Proofing

Module 4: Improving Performance with Lean - Part 3 (3 days)

  • Cellular Production
  • Hoshin Planning
  • Lean Accounting

Module 5: Leading Change (4 days)

  • Leadership Development
  • Team Building
  • Presentation Skills and Meeting Facilitation

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is suitable for everyone: shop floor and office workers, supervisors, senior executives. No prior exposure to lean is necessary.
